Ramen-San Lincoln Park

Service 5/5

Server was attentive, but not too talkative. He warned me of the wait for food to arrive, which I appreciated.

Atmosphere 5/5

The restaurant is warm enough to free you from the cold, but not too warm as to make eating hot ramen unbearable. The music isn't very loud, letting you enjoy the ambiance without hurting your ears. The lighting is brilliant.

Price 3/5

The price won't kill you, but you still might wince a bit at the check if you order alcohol or sides.

Main Food 4.5/5

This visit I ordered the 10-Hour Tonkatsu Ramen. This is a brilliant cold weather dish, with extremely flavorful broth. The meat practically falls off the bone, and the noodles are the perfect texture. Not a single topping is skippable. Unfortunately, my molten egg was cold this time. (Though, on past visits I never had this problem, so this is a dish capable of a perfect score.)

Drinks/Other Food 4.5/5

This visit I drank a hot green tea, which is becoming increasingly rare in American restaurants. I don't know where they source their blend, but it's loose leaf and brewed on the spot. It's not the deepest flavor I had, but it wasn't a blend that shied away from the green tea taste, which I appreciated. I also had their Thai Tea Crème Brûlée for dessert. What a wonderful and unique dish. I'm personally very partial to black tea as custard flavoring for ice cream or gelato, and crème brûlée is just the logical next step.
